Rashford has always been a big fan of the all-time great and was delighted to take ownership of a pair of Nike Air Max 97 CRY Red trainers in April 2018. Said footwear was worth £145 at the time, but the sentimental value now makes them priceless to Rashford.

More than five years on from getting a gift from Ronaldo, Rashford has told of why they have never graced his feet: “No one can touch them! He was one of my favourite players growing up. I liked the shoe, I'd love to wear the shoe but if I messed them up then I don't know what I'd do to myself. So, I'm just better to keep those ones away.”
